Why take Writing for University?

Our online course not only provides detailed lessons to develop postsecondary-level writing skills, but also includes personalized feedback to help students improve.
This course prepares students for university-level writing across disciplines. The structure of the course emulates the structure of first-year university courses including lecture-style lessons, assignment formats and requirements, assignment submissions, grading, and feedback. Students will develop strategies to implement all stages of the writing process, through lessons that focus on rhetoric, document structure, style, grammar, punctuation, and usage. Progress will be measured through a series of formal writing assignments across disciplines, culminating in the academic essay. Students will also learn practical skills like research, argumentation, and communication alongside life skills like time management and task prioritization. A successful student will come out of this course feeling prepared to participate and thrive in a university setting and will also be equipped with critical thinking and analysis skills.

All course materials will be provided, and students will not need to purchase additional texts.

My son received personalized feedback from the instructor, Kristen Schiedel. The amount and depth of feedback surpassed my expectations and helped him clearly see how he could strengthen his writing. I would highly recommend this course for any students transitioning to post secondary who want to feel more prepared.

What makes our courses unique?

There are lots of writing courses out there - so what makes MKLS courses different?

Personalized Writing Feedback

A lot of writing courses include assignments to help students practice skills, but the parents need to provide feedback and grade. With our course, we not only assign relevant and applicable assignments, we also grade them and provide extensive feedback for further learning.
